Barton Holdings is a small New Zealand family-owned company producing one of the best, most potent and therapeutic honeys around. The company owns two 350-hectare properties in the rugged eastern Taranaki backcountry where wild manuka flourishes. They collect and process their own honey.
The company’s NAKI New Zealand Manuka Honey contains more than 70 percent manuka pollen and has a Unique Manuka Factor (UMF) grade of 12+ and 15+. Not all manuka honeys are the same, even when marked with the same UMF grade, because they comprise different nectars and can be blended with other honeys. However, bees in Taranaki’s remote and rugged bush produce manuka honey of exceptional quality. Nectar from the wild manuka that grows on the region’s fertile volcanic soil produces a rich, complex and aromatic honey. Abundant rainfall also helps the manuka thrive in remote bush land where bees are untroubled by rival flora or cultivated crops.
