Recently Korean food and hallyu, or the "Korean wave," have taken the centre stage worldwide. As more people are getting health-conscious about food, Korean food has been getting a lot of spotlight by incorporating healthier food choices whilst increasing flavour.
Auckland is the most populated city in NZ, and attracts a lot of tourists, which is ideal as Korean food is becoming one of the epicentres of avant-garde cuisine.
To augment the competitiveness of Korean restaurants in Auckland, we have implemented a training program on a strictly know-how basis of running a restaurant business to the Korean restaurant owners for the past 5 years.
To localise Korean food, we also distributed a database of Korean food menus and recipes in standardised English to Korean restaurants in Auckland.
Although Korean food has not been popularised here compared to other cuisines, we will continue to strive to be at the forefront of the localisation and popularisation of Korean food in New Zealand.
