Stonecroft is a Hawke's Bay winery specialising in organic, Gimblett Gravels wines. It was established in 1981 and remains family owned and operated.
At Stonecroft, we produce only a tiny quantity of wine. We have three small vineyards, all in the Gimblett Gravels Winegrowing District. All of our vineyards and the winery are certified organic. Pruning, canopy management and harvesting are carried out by hand. Yields are very low and wines are made on site. We focus on getting top quality fruit and in the winery our approach is one of minimal intervention, using traditional methods. Our wines are capable of bottle age, with many of the early examples still drinking well.
Stonecroft was the first vineyard in New Zealand to commercially produce Syrah and it has the oldest Syrah vines in New Zealand. We also grow Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Gewürztraminer, Merlot, Viognier and Zinfandel.
As our wines are certified organic, we've recently introduced a sulphur free Syrah which will be available for tasting at the Food Show.
Our latest vintage of this wine will be released for the first time at the Wellington Food Show and available for tasting.
We have a limited release of 750ml bottles of this dessert wine, which we are making available at the Food Show. Great value at $49, the 375ml bottles sell at $35.
