Zenkuro Sake is NZ's first and only brewer of sake. Based in Queenstown, we handcraft our Junmai (meaning pure, nothing added) style of Premium sake using time-honoured traditional Japanese brewing practices with special sake rice that has been milled to remove the outer 30-40% of each grain. Combined with koji, yeast and water from the snow capped Southern Alps on our doorstep, the fermentation process begins.
With various methods of pressing we have several products, each with each its own distinctive taste, colour and strength of alcohol, which is surprisingly similar to that of red or white wine.
Best enjoyed chilled it is the perfect accompaniment to Japanese food of course, but also matches seafood dishes, salty food or anything full of flavour.
