Since the early 1900’s when our great grandfathers grew parsnips in the garden, we today still draw on that knowledge to grow the best quality fresh produce. This trait has been handed down through five generations. Today, Southern Cross Produce Ltd markets its fresh produce under the ‘So Sweet’ brand from their ‘state of the art’ packaging and distribution complex in Southland, New Zealand. Managed by managing director Matthew Malcolm who currently employs around 30 full time staff. His vision – first class fresh produce proudly home grown and packed by passionate people!
Meat-based nuggets are a thing of a past with the launch of a New Zealand-first product. Southland-based vegetable producer So Sweet have just released their Frozen Parsnip Gems, the first ready-to-cook parsnip product of its kind. “Every food show we go to people cannot believe they are eating the humble parsnip. The cool thing about the Gems is they make a great afterschool snack or as a side to the family meal, but also fit very well as a side vegetable in a pub / family style restaurant with a dipping sauce on an anti-pesto platter. We have all walks of life including children saying how great it tastes and come back asking for more and where they can buy them from This year we will be at the CHCH show again with Gems available for tasting and for sale.
