At FINZ Hazelnuts our objective is to showcase New Zealand grown hazelnuts. We do this by creating delicious and attractive food products in our small factory and kitchen in Lower Hutt. We are a small industrious family business into our 5th year of production. We specialise in processing the whiteheart variety and most of our nuts are sourced from the Lower North Island (Rangitikei, Manawatu and Wairarapa). We make value added products that we sell through Moore Wilson’s in Wellington, and have recently added Commonsense Organics and Thorndon New World to our list of re-sellers. In Auckland Farro Fresh stores provide an outlet for our popular products. By offering customer tastings at our re-sellers and the Thorndon Farmers Market in Wellington on Saturday mornings, we are getting the message across that fresh local nuts are completely different from half rancid imported hazels.
FINZ Hazelnut Syrup is made with Organic Rapadura, water and toasted hazelnuts (strained out after boiling). Rapadura is crystallised sugar cane juice. It has the same calories but not the same highs and lows as refined sugar. Hazelnut has one of the most distinctive nut flavours that pairs extremely well with rich, savoury flavours such as chocolate, cocoa, and coffee. Its rich nutty taste adds an incredible amount of depth to these delicious foods. Add a small amount of Hazelnut Syrup to coffee, chai spiced tea or hot chocolate. Sweeten waffles and pancakes or pour over ice cream. Use it in biscuit, muffin and scone making, pecan pies, tortes and truffles.
