Blackbeards Smokehouse is a small artisan producer located in Whitianga, on the Coromandel Peninsula.
The pristine waters around our cape are the home of many mussel farms that grow the worlds unique
Green Lipped Mussels.
As food lovers and devotees of the ancient and delicious art of smoking, we have been smoking fresh local mussels for a long time and you can now enjoy our delicious fare.
Our traditional smokehouse operates with the combined heat and smoke of a fire created with Manuka wood. The combination of brining and smoking the artisan way is the secret that keeps our product delicious and moist maintaining the integrity of the mussels’ texture.
We create our own marinades and use a selection of finest ingredients and spices. GM free NZ Canola Oil, natural NZ sea salt, fresh local garlic and Organic Kaffir lime leaves are just some of the ingredients we use to produce our 4 different marinades. Come to our stall and convince yourself... shiver me timbers they taste good!
