As a young girl I would visit my grandparents in Paris and it was there in those early years that I first experienced the elation that comes from creative cooking. As my grandparent’s helper, I became part of transforming a selection of ingredients into a satisfying and, to my young mind, quite miraculous whole. I still find this process to be magical.

I continued to bake as I grew up, practising constantly. The kitchen became my domain. This was my passion. Upon graduation from university, I was working part time. Increasingly, the rest of my time was spent baking, and my reputation was beginning to require that I make a life-changing decision. In 2010, I went for it. I officially began ‘The Caker’, selling cakes through my blog. I was 21 years old.

Today The Caker employs 14 people and we pump out hundreds of cakes per week. I have 3 published recipe books and, along with my sister, who co-owns the business, we have created a line of luxury baking kits which are stocked all over NZ, Australia and recently the US. We are currently expanding the business into Los Angeles.
