After showcasing his culinary skills on MasterChef NZ, Brenton Thornton comes to the Electrolux Cooking Theatre to bring you simple and punchy meals, packed full of flavour that can be made with ease.
His style of cooking is simple, creative and just out side of the box - he aims to harness traditional cooking methods with some unorthodox flavours in a simple way, always with fresh produce.
Brenton's inspiration comes from his family:
"My dad's side is Maori and is really a hunter-gatherer, a live off the land and sea style of cooking, which I love. I'm inspired by the traditional methods, hangi, smoking, and fresh Kaimoana (seafood). Mum's side of the family taught me a lot about other cultures and foods; at home we always experimented with exotic flavours, spices, and my step dad also introduced me to beautiful Asian dishes and an oriental way of cooking.
"I think it's great to constantly learn with your cooking, I encourage you to keep evolving and changing all the time."
