See New Zealand's top chefs cooking live

For demonstrations and seminars from New Zealand's most talented chefs and cooks, head to the Electrolux Cooking Theatre at The Food Show Auckland. MasterChef NZ judges Simon Gault and Ray McVinnie, MasterChef NZ winner Nadia Lim and runner-up Jax Hamilton, Julie Biuso, Julie Le Clerc, Alison and Simon Holst, Lauraine Jacobs, Richard Till, Annabelle White, and many more will be preparing their latest recipes while offering expert tips - and sampling - along the way.

Cooking demonstrations are included in your entry price. However seating is on a first come first serve basis.

Terry Lowe, Black Barn’s Head Chef presents a cooking demonstration with tips that have seen the Bistro collect numerous accolades including Cuisine best North Island Winery restaurant 2010 and a Top Fifty finalist 2011. The Black Barn philosophy is the same with their artisan wines that are food friendly, have texture, palate interest, and balance. Tastings will also be available of the new 2010 Hawke’s Bay Pinot Noir.

Ray will show you a no-fuss, three-course celebration meal that epitomises the eclectic nature of modern Kiwi food. A first course salmon and eggplant salad that draws its inspiration from the north of Africa, a main course of pan-fried duck breast with an Italian twist, and a traditional French pudding all illustrate the way Kiwi cooks use the world as their culinary palette to present delicious meals to share with friends and family.

Sensational but simple feasting

Lauraine Jacobs loves to entertain and her mantra is: "If food is easy to prepare, it will be easy to eat, and guests will be happy". With that in mind, Lauraine will prepare a stunning but simple three-course meal in 45 minutes that will be easy to replicate at home, including a smoked salmon salad, escalopes of pork, and a surprise dessert. Lauraine is a champion of farmers markets and local artisan food producers and will be using some of the wonderful produce found at the Food Show.

Nici promises to show how easy these recipes are to make in your own kitchen and will give a sneak peak into the recipes featured in the new, upcoming TV series of 'World Kitchen'. Think steaming bowls of laksa, handmade flatbreads and more.

Richard Till reckons about 99% of meals are made after a long day at work while the children are fighting and without one of the key ingredients that you thought you had in the fridge. Experience and understanding of method will increase your ability to change recipes on the fly. Richard Till will make two quick and simple dishes while demonstrating key techniques that lift each dish from being a nice combination of ingredients to sublime dining. Both dishes are infinitely customisable, so the lessons learned in this demonstration can have you constructing your own signature dish in no time.

They want to show you that cooking good, nutritious family food, using ingredients available from any supermarket, can be fun and needn't mean spending all day slaving over a hot stove.

New Zealand's first MasterChef winner is all about making South-East Asian and European food accessible and simple for Kiwis to recreate at home. His inspiration stems from the places he travelled where he discovered that traditional, locally produced food from inexpensive eateries could be surprisingly good! For Brett, the way you use meat, seasonal produce and well-tested recipes are key. Brett will share new tastes and flavour combinations including his Miso and ginger broth with shitake mushrooms, noodles, crispy shallots and garlic, his Thai fish sticks on lemongrass stalks, and a delicious pork, prawn & grapefruit salad.
