Method
Serves 8
Preheat the oven to 200°C.
Divide pastry into 8 even parts and roll out each portion into
15cm squares. Place on a baking tray and refrigerate.
Peel and
core apples and cut each one into 12 wedges.
Melt the butter and sugar together and brown the apples in this
for about a quarter of an hour. Allow to cool.
Remove pasty from the fridge and place the apples in the
centers. Gather up the sides of the pastry around the apples making
little folds. The pastry should almost cover the apples.
Paint the pastry with the egg and milk wash. Bake in the oven
for 15 - 20 mins till golden.
Serve warm or at room temperature. Very good with cream with
Vincotto whipped into it.
