Auckland foodies can still experience the authentic world of
international cuisine even if the economy has clipped their
travelling wings.
Finding Flavour offers foodie day tours, cooking classes and
themed lunches in the Auckland region and beyond. It was started in
2008 by life-long foodie, Lynn Huhtala, and is a business run by
foodies, for foodies.
Finding Flavour seeks out and reveals the wonderful cuisines and
passionate foodies of Auckland and further afield.
There are other foodies to meet, delicious cuisines to discover
and markets to shop on a Finding Flavour tour.
Participants are taken to meet the people passionate about their
cuisine and to markets and specialty food outlets which will
enable them to recreate authentic dishes at home.
Get a behind the scenes look at some of the Auckland
region's unique food and wine suppliers. Enjoy some
delicious food tastings and of course, time for shopping! Pick
up useful cooking tips and ideas to take home. Participants
are taken on a tour of discovery by experienced guides who are also
foodies. Most importantly, participants enjoy the convivial company

Tours either visit a variety of types of food suppliers and
producers in one area/suburb (such as the World in a Day: North
Shore Tour) or they focus on a specific cuisine (such as the
French Food Discovery Tour hosted by Chef/food writer
Sarah La Touche). Tours include tastings, lunch, transportation and
an information folder to take home.
The themed lunches focus on a specific cuisine and are usually
held in a restaurant well-known for its specialities.
New for 2009 is the Seasonal Flavour Cooking Class series, which
promotes cooking and eating with the rhythm of the seasons.
The inaugural class in March of this year revisited the homely
skills of preserving fruits and vegetables while the winter class
had a French Bistro food theme. "Gorgeous food, easily
