The Tasting Shed has one simple philosophy – a place where wine craves food. Expect to experience a unique environment where everything we are about is celebrating great food and wine pairings in a gorgeous rural setting, less than half an hour outside of central Auckland.

We’re passionate about our seasonal menu, and we’re passionate about our global wine list. Everything we offer on our wine list is available by the glass so that you can experience a variety of tastes for your palate. We’ll help you step outside your comfort zone and try varieties or styles that you may not have tried before. And we’ll recommend some great dishes to bring out the best flavours in the wines.

Most people think of ‘small plates’ or ‘tapas’ and think of three small bites of food. We’re all about an entrée sized plate where you can savour the food and still have more than a mouthful! Our menu is influenced by the exotic flavours of the Middle East, through to the northern-most parts of Spain, France and Italy, then west through Croatia and Serbia.

It’s also the little things in our customer service that will keep you coming back for more … whether it’s keeping warm on a cool evening wrapped in one of our cosy Tasting Shed blankets, a courtesy ride home if you’re a West Auckland local, or just being in an environment where there is no such word as ‘no’.

Why are we different? Because we care about the highest levels of food and wine service, and strive to give you a dining experience that you would not expect to find in a ‘rural’ environment. Expect to see the owners on the floor EVERY night, encouraging you to try food and wine that you may not have tried before, and feel like you are part of something special.
