River Estate’s ‘Award Winning Olive Oils – grown and produced just 30 minutes’ drive east from the heart of Auckland .
River Estate has been producing premium olive oil since 1999 and has won an accolade of medals in recognised New Zealand competitions every year since first entering in 2006. In 2010 we won TWO “Best in Class”, SIX Gold, and TWO Silver Medals. These successes follow wins of ONE “Best in Class”, Gold and Silver in 2009. All our olive oils are certified “Extra Virgin” and are non-filtered to retain maximum flavours.
River Estate is situated on the banks of the Turanga River in the rural town of Whitford. The grove consists of 1500 trees of 8 varieties - including traditional Tuscan, Greek, Spanish and North African. We follow organic principles in grove management, including ‘spray free’ practises. Olives are harvested by variety in late autumn and processed in our purpose built press house the same day. This makes us the only “single estate” grower in the Auckland mainland.
We also make our own table olives, which are produced by natural curing and finished with a blend of white or red wine vinegars. These popular olives are very rich in flavour.
River Estate Dukkah complements our olive oils. This is also produced on site and well sort after by regular customers. Our Dukkah deliberately has a low salt content as a major point of difference to our competitors.
