Driving past the place you wouldn’t expect to find three thousand odd chilli and capsicum plants, nor would you expect such a delicious range of chilli & capsicum based products to be produced in the kitchen. However, that’s exactly what you get at Orcona Chillis and Peppers. Every product that leaves the property, from the relish sauce pickles & pastes to the sweet smoked paprika is hand-made and batch produced with care & attention to detail, using their own grown produce & sourcing only the best local ingredients to finish them off. With a property size of 0.6 hectares, it takes just a few steps to take the hand-picked produce from the plants to the kitchen.
In the past ten years, Orcona have developed & mastered an individual recipe for their authentic Tunisian style chilli & spice Harissa Paste. With a strong hit of chilli, it’s not one to muck around with. It’s the perfect addition for Moroccan dishes and pairs well as a rub with New Zealand favourites such as lamb or fish.
