Mount Riley is a family owned NZ winery. Its people are involved, as far as possible, at all stages from earth to glass. Food Show customers can meet some of the Mount Riley team & connect with the place and people behind its wines.
Mount Riley have a huge range of wines available for tasting and to purchase at its stand including:
• Sparkling Savée: NZ’s first sparkling Sauvignon Blanc & because it’s made using the same method as Champagne is still NZ’s best.
• Three Sauvignon Blanc’s: Mount Riley Sauvignon Blanc is poured in business class on both British Airways & Cathay Pacific, Limited Release Sauvignon Blanc scored 94 points from Bob Campbell MW & 17 Valley Sauvignon Blanc is hand picked, whole bunch pressed & fermented wild.
• Aromatics: Mount Riley Pinot Gris & Riesling are both off dry & intensely aromatic.
• Two Chardonnay’s: Mount Riley is lightly oaked, approachable & poured on Air NZ. 17 Valley won a gold medal at the Air NZ Wine Awards & was judged best NZ Chardonnay & awarded a trophy at the Inernational Chardonnay Challenge.
• Three Pinot Noir’s: Mount Riley is approachable & fruit forward, Limited Release similar in style but with more intensity and 17 Valley is concentrated, rich and complex.
• Merlot Malbec: an affordable winter warmer for cold evenings around the fireplace.
• Syrah: Limited Release Syrah is grown on one of Marlborough’s warmest sites and has classic white pepper aromas.
Mount Riley exports 80% of its production with strong markets in the UK, Australia and importers spread across Europe & Asia. Asked why Mount Riley has remained successful when so many other wine companies are struggling, General Manager Amy Murphy replied “we focus absolutely on the things we think our customers value: a connection to people and place, great value for money, being very transparent and talking to our customers in a down-to-earth, approachable way, & trust - making sure our wines year after year are consistent in quality.”
