.... as great Pinot Noir lovers and winegrowers, we have one of the very famous winery estates in Germany well known by the circle of experts.
When travelling the world, looking at Pinot Noir we encountered New Zealand for the first time. The
landscape felt quite familiar, but what fascinated us even more was the Pinot Noir. The ''Cool Climate“ conditions are perfect and there is a booming spirit. For us, the Wairarapa is the ideal place outside of Burgundy (France) to grow world class Pinot Noir. In 2001 we established our Vineyard near the historic Gladstone settlement along the picturesque Ruamahanga river, north of Martinborough. So far we have planted 8 ha of various Pinot Noir clones, originally selected in Burgundy, 3 ha of Sauvignon Blanc and 12 different trial varieties. The wines have great depth, structure and elegance representing our European roots combined with the intense fruit characteristics made possible by the New Zealand terroir.
